Are you planning to rent Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales ? Stop by a nearby Redbox ! Book Suggestions We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy by Ta-Nehisi Coates “We were eight years in power” was the lament of Reconstruction-era black politicians as the American experiment in multiracial democracy ended with the return of white supremacist rule in the South. In this sweeping collection of new and selected essays, Ta-Nehisi Coates explores the tragic echoes of that history in our own time: the unprecedented election of a black president followed by a vicious backlash that fueled the election of the man Coates argues is America’s “first white president.” Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: The Illustrated Edition by J.K. Rowling and Jim Kay "For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort. Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well. And the Azkaban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, "He's at Hogwarts . . . he's at Hogwarts." Harry Potter isn't safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst."

She interviews prominent local figures, describes motels, diners, a deserted reptile farm, a visit with Walker Percy, a ladies' brunch at the Mississippi Broadcasters' Convention. She writes about the stifling heat, the almost vicious pace of life, the sulfurous light, and the preoccupation with race, class, and heritage she finds in the small towns they pass through. Levy picks you up and hurls you through the story of how she built an unconventional life and then watched it fall apart with astonishing speed.
